About Little Talks

Built around one simple idea: communication should feel possible.

Little Talks was created to make AAC feel clearer, more personal and more connected to everyday family life — without turning a child’s communication into something distant, complicated or stored in the cloud.

Little Talks
Why it exists

AAC should fit into life, not take it over.

Communication tools can be powerful, but they also need to make sense in the moments where they are actually used: at home, in school, out and about, with family, with carers, and during the small everyday situations that matter most.

Little Talks is being built around that reality. The child gets a clear communication app. The people supporting them get a companion app that helps them listen, reply and stay connected.

What matters to us

The principles behind the product.

01

Communication first

The technology should get out of the way and help the person say what they want to say.

02

Personal beats generic

Familiar people, photos, words and recordings can make AAC feel more recognisable and relevant.

03

Local by default

Communication and backups stay between the devices you control rather than being copied to a Little Talks cloud.

04

Support, not surveillance

Insights are designed to show useful communication patterns without collecting audio, location or unrelated device activity.

Made for real people

The board can become their board.

Little Talks starts with a visual vocabulary, but it does not have to stay generic. Families can add familiar photos, change individual tiles and use recordings that mean something to the person using the app.

Privacy by design

No Little Talks cloud sitting between you.

Little Talks and Little Beacons are designed to communicate locally between your own devices. Messages, replies, backups and requested reports do not need to pass through a Little Talks server.

Your communication data stays with you.

Still growing

Little Talks is being built, tested and improved in the open.

The apps are still evolving. Testing matters because the useful feedback is not “does the button technically work?” — it is whether the whole experience makes sense in real life.

That is why we are looking for families, carers and supporters who are willing to try the apps and tell us what feels good, what feels confusing and what needs to change.
